Dear Isabel and Emily,
One year ago today, Mommy and I were first introduced to you. We met Isabel first, and Emily only 2 minutes later. Emily, you even wanted to bite the nurse! You both were so small, but you were (and are) oh so beautiful.
So much has happened over the past year. We’ve learned a lot together. Mommy and I have never before been so tired, so busy trying to keep up with you. You learned to sit up, you crawled, you grew a couple of upper and lower teeth. You learned to eat food and drink on your own. You learned to change your own diapers (I wish!). Just a few weeks ago you were able to stand up and support yourself with nearby furniture.
I’ve told Mommy that I’m a generally happy person, but I’ve never really known what it’s like to experience joy…that was until I met both of you. You both well me up with such joy that I cannot wait to get home from work to see you, to play with you.
Please know that Mommy and I love you very much. Our love is equal towards you both, unwavering. You can count on it. On this day we want you to know how very much we love you. We can’t wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you two.
To everyone reading this: The girls were born on October 27, 2005 and we brought them home on Halloween. One year later, we couldn’t imagine the joy our little ladybug and chick would bring us.
Usually this site chronicles our beautiful daughters, but I’m in a funk this week. I have two sports passions. One is the NY Yankees. The other is UConn Husky basketball. The cool thing about following these teams is that I have my whole year pretty much covered. Baseball season, in general, runs from April to October, and college hoops runs from November through March. Unfortunately, the Yankees lost a bit early in the playoffs, so I have some downtime before the college basketball season begins. That won’t stop me from getting mentally prepared. Enjoy this clip from the 1998 tournament!

On Saturday, the family went to Homestead Gardens to attend their annual Fall Festival - games, rides, food, live music, and lots and lots of pumpkins. I’ve included a few photos and short video clips of us taking a pumpkin ride. Enjoy!

Okay, parents. The challenge is on. This video is an exhortation to expose your children to learning opportunities at an early age. The way our girls are starting to dance to music we play might be an indicator of their true prodigious talent
Oh, and by the way, the child in this video is 4 years old!

It’s been so much fun watching the girls develop. The girls are now eating table food, which means Mom and Dad are finely cutting food they prepare for themselves. Gone are the days of blending all sorts of food into a liquid form, freezing them in ice cube trays, and then microwaving them when the girls were ready to be fed.
Both girls started out eating anything, but now in the finger food stage, Iz is much more picky - she sticks mainly to vegetables. Em, on the other hand, is two-fisting the food and eats at twice the speed as Iz!
The girls are crawling like crazy. Iz now has her upper teeth coming in.
These are joyous times indeed.
What a fantastic photo! Catch Emily’s curls and Isabel’s red hair. It’s easy to grab a big photo of this. With appropriate permissions notwithstanding, simply click this image to go to Flickr and then choose different sizes under the “additional information” label. Then choose the size of the photo you’d like to download and click download!
Note: If you are unable to choose a size or download a photo, it means either 1) you have not logged into your free Flickr account; 2) you need to register for a free Flickr account (and tell me so I can add you as a friend or family connection); or 3) you have a Flickr account and are logged in but have not been idetified by me as a family or friend. If you want to download any photo of any size and need help, let me know.

Iz started to crawl a few days ago. It’s not fast or frequent, but it’s there. I also had a great time yesterday with the girls. Em was in the exersaucer and Iz was on the floor. The dynamic is that Iz will catch Em’s attention and Em will lose it - laughing and laughing and screaming. This only encourages Iz to be even more silly in order to make her sister laugh that much harder.
There were tears in my eyes I was laughing so much.
