Prayers For a Childhood Hero

Don Mattingly

Those of you who know me know that I am a big fan of Don Mattingly (I even named the family dog after him!). “Donnie Baseball” is one of the most beloved players in New Yankees history. He was one of my heroes for a variety of reasons. First, he was a hard worker who never complained. You wouldn’t see him in the media maligning anyone. He also exemplified a great male role model - great character. He had a faith that he didn’t beat you over the head with but wasn’t ashamed of either.

I’ve known that he and his wife have had marital problems and were likely heading towards a divorce. This latest news saddens me all the more. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Don.

I Need Baby Sports Gear!

Normally I am not a superstitious person, except when it comes to the sports teams I root for - namely the NY Yankees and the UConn Huskies. We are now in the midst of March Madness - one of my favorite times of the year - and UConn plays tonight.

I happened upon Savage Stories and Lim Twins and determined that there’s a direct correlation between their twins wearing the sporting attire of their favorite college team and their team winning the game. Tonight UConn plays and my girls have nothing to wear! Sure, they did get NY Yankee gear, but that doesn’t help my team right now!

The only answer will be that each of my girls will have to wear Daddy’s UConn gear. Oh, no! I just realized that UConn plays tonight at 10:00 pm! If the girls are asleep, will that negatively affect UConn’s chances? I guess we’ll know tomorrow.

I guess I’ll have to go back to my old reliable ‘Baby Husky’ to help push UConn to victory?

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

There’s not much better than opening day, but a first game of the season between the Yankees and the Red Sox? Wow! Randy Johnson versus David Wells. I love the Spring.

And for those of you who are unaware of the significance of our dog’s name…
