I Miss 24

I miss 24. I do not want to have to wait another year to watch Jack Bauer save the world yet again. In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to bide my time by downloading the CTU ringtone for my not-yet-purchased iPhone while watching this funny viral spoof video of the ‘24′ 1994 pilot:

I LOVE You

I’m finally getting around to posting some video we’ve taken. I still struggle with keeping movies open to the public or private for only family and friend viewing. But considering family often have a difficult time viewing, please go over to YouTube to subscribe to the videos (need an account) and make sure I have you on my list of friends or family so you can see videos we’ve marked as private.

Enjoy this! Emily made us watch this one literally 30 times yesterday! She laughed every time her sister said, “I love you.”

The Day in the Life of a Mom

Is this how your day goes, moms? It certainly does at our home.

Corny Uncool Dad

My wife recently called me “corny” - a personality trait that must be inherited. For every 10 jokes I crack, maybe 2 are genuinely funny. The other 8 don’t hit the mark. I’m not sure what happened to my quest to always be cool, or at least think I am cool. I also vowed I would always be a cool Dad. Reality hasn’t caught up to the dream.

Here’s the latest confirmation that I am not hip…

Throughout high school and college I pursued “coolness” by listening to obscure bands - the crazier the band name the better. One of those bands, the Goo Goo Dolls, had a song called “Slide” which I really enjoyed. Below is the video.

You know you’re uncool when a song you like has been altered and the band appears with Elmo on Sesame Street. Below is the Sesame Street version. If you only have time to watch a little, pay attention to Elmo dancing during the last 10 seconds or so of the song - pretty funny.

Start Them Early

Okay, parents. The challenge is on. This video is an exhortation to expose your children to learning opportunities at an early age. The way our girls are starting to dance to music we play might be an indicator of their true prodigious talent ;)

Oh, and by the way, the child in this video is 4 years old!

Sicky-Poo

There’s been some sickness in the household lately. Both Emily and Isabel had been diagnosed a few weeks back with Fifth Disease, which sounds scarier than it is. The basic symptoms include rosy cheeks and slight fever or cold-like symptoms. However, the fevers became worse, and with Isabel’s tendency to tug at her ears, Mom wisely got them checked out and both were found to have ear infections. No biggie - just give them antiobiotics.

One unfortunate side-effect of the antibiotics is that it causes diarrhea. I know, I’m sure too much information for you. Just have a little sympathy for Mom and Dad as we have the joy of handling the stink. Frankly, seeing this video reminds me of my experience (and they must take the antibiotics for 7 more days still!).

Baseball is in the Air

Okay, so March Madness is over, but baseball is back! I know most of you may not be baseball fans because it is “boring” and lacks excitement. Perhaps this video will ignite the excitement. Note: This video’s target audience is men ages 25-35. Many a college day was spent playing RBI baseball on the ‘ol Nintendo video game system.

So, without further ado, I bring you Conor Lastowka’s 1986 World Series Game 6 (10th Inning Only) Re-Enacted in RBI Baseball.

Feel Good of the Day

Okay, so this post is not about family, but it certainly will brighten your day. I usually never get choked up or get chills, except for the occasional sports movie like Field of Dreams, Hoosiers, or Rudy. However, this real life story might beat them all. I think a movie will be made of this one…
