Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Giants Win!

The Catch

Manning provided the snapshot for the game, pulling away from at least four Patriots and a near-certain sack on third down, and lofting the ball to David Tyree. Tyree made a leaping 32-yard reception, clutching the ball against his helmet as he fell, that put the Giants at the Patriots’ 24-yard line with 59 seconds left in the game. Coughlin said it might have been among the greatest plays in Super Bowl history.

Happy Birthday, Ladybug and Chick!

Dear Isabel and Emily,

One year ago today, Mommy and I were first introduced to you. We met Isabel first, and Emily only 2 minutes later. Emily, you even wanted to bite the nurse! You both were so small, but you were (and are) oh so beautiful.

So much has happened over the past year. We’ve learned a lot together. Mommy and I have never before been so tired, so busy trying to keep up with you. You learned to sit up, you crawled, you grew a couple of upper and lower teeth. You learned to eat food and drink on your own. You learned to change your own diapers (I wish!). Just a few weeks ago you were able to stand up and support yourself with nearby furniture.

I’ve told Mommy that I’m a generally happy person, but I’ve never really known what it’s like to experience joy…that was until I met both of you. You both well me up with such joy that I cannot wait to get home from work to see you, to play with you.

Please know that Mommy and I love you very much. Our love is equal towards you both, unwavering. You can count on it. On this day we want you to know how very much we love you. We can’t wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you two.

To everyone reading this: The girls were born on October 27, 2005 and we brought them home on Halloween. One year later, we couldn’t imagine the joy our little ladybug and chick would bring us.

New Additions

I would like to announce that my brother and his wife have two little additions to their family!

Without knowing the specific details, their little boys were born prematurely at approximately 31 weeks (I’m sure Ron can be more specific). Since they still need to develop, they’ll spend some time in the NICU. Please pray for Ron and Sarah and these precious ones.

Here is the scoop:

James Robert (4 lbs 8 oz)

John Bowen (4 lbs 0 oz)(3 lbs 14 oz)

They were born this morning at approximately 3:30 am 2:30 am.

Congrats to Ron and Sarah!

The Mouth Game

Emily and Isabel love to hear the sound of their voices so much that Dad thought it would be fun to turn it into a little game. They now try to play the game on their own.

Lightning Does Strike Twice

My brother and his wife are expecting their first child…or, should I say, CHILDREN! Yes, they are expecting twin boys to be born sometime mid-August. Needless to say, it will be good to have family to commiserate with.

Baptism Day

I’ve posted some long-awaited photos of the baby baptism/dedication weekend. Note: they are not viewable to the general public, so if you would like to see them, shoot me off an email so I can give you appropriate permissions. One way to find out if you can view “special permission” photos is to click on the link above or the photo below to see if you can see the larger version of the image.

I do intend to post some video footage when I get the chance, but life with twins has been rather busy. :)

Baptism Day

Happy Sunday, Black Monday

UConn

Sunday was a bittersweet day for me. It started off great! Family and friends converged to celebrate our girls’ dedication/baptism that was held at Calvary Church in Annandale, VA. Everything fell into place nicely - the girls were well behaved all through the service. The message was great. The church even put together a nice video of us that noted our struggle to conceive. I hope our story helped others who were going through their own “storms” of life. I’ll try to post pics of the day and the video in the near future - it’s a real tear jerker, though - particularly if you know us.

In contrast to the celebration of the girls was the sadness of seeing UConn lose to George Mason - a number 11 seed! I was already anxious because I was unable to see the game live - it coincided with the time we set aside to have people over to celebrate the girls’ dedications/baptisms. Thank God for TiVo - I simply watched the game after people had left. But why keep me in suspense - no need for overtime if they were going to lose anyway.

I will say this - UConn had played uninspired basketball all year. They were destined to fail. If they’re going to lose, I am glad they lost to a ‘cinderella’ - team. I only hope that George Mason wins it all. The real torture today is living in the DC area having to hear it from bandwagon fans of the beloved local team.

Note to self: next year the girls will be wearing Husky gear - like it or not!

In the end, however, the pain of a silly basketball loss goes away much more quickly when you have the unconditional love of two little girls to boost your spirits :)

Congrats to my internet ‘multiples’ buddies who have their beloved LSU Tigers and UCLA Bruins left to root for. Keep making sure your kids wear the gear! Oh, and both teams, if they do not win it this year, I believe will be primed for another exemplary run next year.

Open House for the Girls

Open House for Isabel and Emily

On Saturday we threw an “open house” for Isabel and Emily. This was a time for all of our friends to see the girls. This was a Valentine’s Day-themed event, with the house adorned in hearts, the girls dressed up with love-inspired attire, and lots and lots of chocolate and sugary things were available to eat.

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend. Below are some photos from the event.

Thank you, my wife, for being the love of my life. Thank you for being the mother of my two daughters. Can you believe that they are already 15 weeks old?! There’s nothing better than watching them asleep, content. What a wonderful Valentine’s Day. I want you to know that I love you very much. Isabel and Emily, I love you very much and am privileged to be called your father.
